Jabs urge after measles outbreak

Twelve cases of measles have been reported throughout South Warwickshire, health officials have said.

The Health Protection Agency said four were reported by 3 November, but this had now trebled.

The agency is urging parents whose children have not had the MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) jabs to contact their GPs and arrange to have them.

Spokeswoman Dr Huda Mohamed said measles was an unpleasant illness, even in its mildest form.

She added the national target for immunisation was 95% of all pre-school children.

In South Warwickshire, 84% of children under five have had the two full MMR jabs.
