Man dies after house fire rescue

A man who was rescued from a house fire in Coventry has died in hospital.

The victim was trapped inside the two-storey terraced property in Purcell Road, Courthouse Green, when the blaze started in the early hours.

Firefighters from Foleshill, Coventry and Canley were called to the scene and rescued the man.

He was given emergency treatment by ambulance crews and taken to hospital where he died. An investigation is under way into the cause of the blaze.
