Teenage boy arrested over death

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested over the death of a man who was found lying on the pavement in Warwickshire.

Paul William Smith, 54, of Biart Place, Rugby, was discovered with an injury to the back of his head in Clifton Road in the town on Saturday morning.

Mr Smith, also known as Tall Paul or Smudge, was pronounced dead in hospital, Warwickshire Police said.

He was believed to have been walking along Clifton Road away from the town centre before he was found.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and police were awaiting the results of further tests to establish how he died.

Mr Smith, who was found between the junctions of Cambridge Street and Windsor Street at 0120 BST, was wearing a navy jacket and light blue jeans.

He was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
