Man dies after 'vicious' beating

Police have begun a murder inquiry into the death of a man in a "vicious attack" in Warwickshire.

The victim was found on Royal Oak Lane, Bedworth, on Sunday night. He died in the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton in the early hours of Monday.

The man who carried out the attack and another man seen watching, were spotted walking away from the scene together.

Supt Nav Malik, said: "It was an extremely vicious attack which has resulted in his death."

The assault happened near to the junction of Vicarage Lane in the Ash Green area between 2300 and 2330 BST on Sunday and the man died at about 0115 BST on Monday.

Supt Malik, leading the murder inquiry, said: "We urgently need to trace the people involved."

The attacker is described as black or Asian, aged between 27 and 35, about 5ft 10in (1.77m) tall, of medium build, with short hair.

He was wearing a dark hooded top and blue jeans, Warwickshire Police said.

The man who was watching is described as white, in his late 20s, of stocky build, 5ft 10in (1.77m) tall with short hair.

He was wearing a football-style shirt and blue jeans.
