Motorway crash woman is airlifted

A woman in her 80s had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering multiple injuries in an road collision on the M40 in Warwickshire.

Emergency crews were called to the northbound carriageway of the motorway, between junction 12 and the Warwick services, just before 1400 BST.

A lorry and a car had collided, ambulance crews said.

The Highways Agency said two lanes on the motorway were now open, but warned drivers to expect delays.

The woman, who was a passenger in the car, was flown to Coventry's University Hospital for treatment.
