Detectives investigating the murder of a British woman who went missing two years ago have found a body in Spain.

Patricia Heard, 58, formerly of Bedworth, Warwickshire, was reported missing from her home in Valencia in July 2006.

Her husband Allen Heard, 63, was charged last week with her murder.

Warwickshire Police said the body, believed to be Mrs Heard's, was found on Tuesday in the region of Pego, between Valencia and Alicante.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place in Spain on Wednesday.

Officers said they had been working with Spanish police on the case.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said Mr and Mrs Heard had emigrated to Spain in early 2006.

Mr Heard appeared before magistrates in Nuneaton last week and was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Warwick Crown Court on Friday.
