Husband charged with Spain murder

Patricia Heard moved to Spain with her husband in early 2006, police said

A British man has been charged with the murder of his wife who vanished from their Spanish home two years ago.

Patricia Heard, 58, formerly of Bedworth, Warwickshire, was reported missing from Olivia, near Valencia, in July 2006.

Her husband Allen Heard, 63, appeared before Nuneaton magistrates on Monday also charged with perverting the course of justice.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Warwick Crown Court on 15 August.

Officers in Warwickshire have been working with Spanish police investigating Mrs Heard's disappearance.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said Mr and Mrs Heard had emigrated to Spain in early 2006.
