Mother remanded over girl's death

A 36-year-old woman has appeared in court charged in connection with the death of her daughter in a house fire.

Jodieann Brown, aged 22 months, died after the blaze in Oxford Street, Coventry, on 15 July.

Members of the public tried to revive her but she was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital.

Michelle Brown is charged with "causing and allowing" her death and attempting to pervert the course of justice. She was remanded in custody by magistrates.

The case was adjourned pending a further hearing at Coventry Crown Court.
