Girl bitten in face in dog attack

A four year-old girl suffered serious facial bites after she was attacked by a dog at her West Midlands home.

Ambulance crews were called to a property in Stoke Aldermoor, Coventry, during Tuesday evening after reports a girl had been attacked.

A spokesman said a four-year-old had suffered bites to her face and scratches to other parts of her body.

She was taken from the house to the ambulance and transferred to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

The spokesman said: "The crew were told the dog was a Rottweiler or similar. The crew remarked that despite her injuries, the girl was very brave about her condition."

Police confirmed they attended a domestic incident at the address and said they had advised the family about the dog, which is a family pet.
