Young people have been filming themselves jumping off cliffs into water at quarries in Warwickshire.

The alarm was raised when villagers came across videos posted on networking website YouTube.

They show teenagers jumping off 50ft (15m) cliffs at Bishops Bowl, a series of pools between Harbury and Bishops Itchington.

Repeated warnings about the practice of "tombstoning" - leaping into the water from a height - have been issued.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) issued a warning in May, describing the act as "absolute madness".

The videos were posted on YouTube website earlier this year and appear to show young people jumping off the cliffs last summer.

Villagers fear with summer approaching, it may start happening again.

Bruce Everiss, who came across the videos when setting up the Harbury Village Voice website, said the pools had not been used by young people for some years but seemed to becoming popular again.

"They have mainly been used by anglers," he said.

"They were not popular for water sports after a drowning there, about 20 years ago.

"But it may be, as memories fade, they are being used again."
