Worker dies after being impaled

A man has died after becoming impaled on a bar at a factory in Warwickshire, despite the efforts of rescuers.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to Corby Chilled Distribution in Alcester on Friday.

A spokesman said: "On arrival, crews found a man who had become impaled and fire crews began to cut him free.

"His condition deteriorated and despite the best efforts of fire and ambulance crews to free him and treat him, nothing could be done to save him."

A rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended.

An investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched.
