Plans to convert a former gallery and museum into a restaurant have been approved despite protests from art and community groups.
The Grade II-listed building in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, will be turned into flats, offices and the restaurant by developers.
Arts groups had insisted the building should be kept for future exhibitions.
However, council leaders said they would be speaking to those groups to find suitable alternatives.
The current art gallery and museum is based at the town's Pump Rooms.
The former site is in Avenue Road.
