MP calls for boy racer 'barriers'
Cars racing at industrial park
Film of the races was posted on the internet
An MP has called for a barrier gate to be installed at a industrial estate to deter so-called boy racers.

Car enthusasists have raced at Hams Hall Business Park, North Warwickshire, for about 18 months and it has become a regular Sunday night event.

North Warwickshire MP Mike O'Brien said the police cannot keep up a presence at the site and firms based there should work together to stop the races.

He said there was support for a gate controlled by security guards.

The venue has become a regular meeting place and people go to spectate as well as race. Mobile phone recordings and information posted on on internet sites have helped to attract more cars and people.

Labour MP Mr O'Brien said: "The police are saying they just can't stay there in these numbers over the long term. If we could get a get a gate there it would solve some of these problems.

"I agree that the gate should be there - in fact in my conversations with some of the companies they have shown that they are sympathetic to the idea."

He said the question now was how many of the 23 firms based at the site would be prepared to put money towards funding the gate.
