Demolition work is scheduled to start in September at the former Peugeot site at Ryton near Coventry.
Trenport Investments, which now owns the land, plans to clear the site in two stages, with the final work being completed next year.
In the meantime, Trenport has asked for permission to allow Littlewoods to use a warehouse on the site as a sorting office over the Christmas period.
Peugeot closed Ryton last year with the loss of more than 2,000 jobs.
Complete survey
Trenport spokesman Bob Fenton said: "In the run-up to the closure, Peugeot itself worked very closely with the Coventry Motor Museum to make sure that any material that they wanted that needed to be preserved could be taken to the motor museum.
"Since the closure there's been a complete survey of the existing buildings and the area to make sure there's nothing underneath the site that could be of historical or archaeological interest.
"Those surveys have actually shown that there's nothing that needs to be preserved."
Trenport director Chris Hall said: "The work will be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
"However it is inevitable that there will be some additional traffic entering and leaving the site, and some noise during the demolition process.
"I do assure people living around the site that we will be doing everything we can to make sure that this disruption is kept to an absolute minimum."
