New bid for arena train station
Coventry City's Ricoh Arena
The station would be on the Coventry to Nuneaton line
Plans for a new railway station close to a football stadium are close to being submitted, a council says.

Original plans for a station for Coventry's Ricoh Arena were turned down by transport ministers who said there would not be enough demand.

More than 2,500 people have signed a petition for the stop which would be on the Coventry to Nuneaton line.

John McGuigan, the city council's development director, said they had more evidence the station was needed.

"We have 5,000 more people working there than we did three years ago and we have up to four million visitors each year," he said.
