The airport claims the decision was legally flawed

Airport owners have lodged an appeal against a government decision to block their expansion plans.

Last month a public inquiry held into Coventry Airport's plans for a new terminal found there would be an adverse impact on noise in the area.

The airport's owners now claim that decision was legally flawed and that they are hoping to resolve concerns about noise.

The terminal would be able to handle up to two million passengers a year.

Airport managing director Chris Orphanou said: "Our legal team has advised us that the decision is seriously flawed in law. We will be seeking a new inquiry.

"Hundreds of our customers, together with MPs, elected councillors, local businesses organisations and companies wanting to invest in Coventry, have urged us to make the appeal."
