River baby death accused in court

A 26-year-old woman has appeared in court in connection with the discovery of a baby girl found by a river.

Lilly, as she was named by police, was discovered by a family out walking along the River Alne near Stratford in Warwickshire on 11 May last year.

She was found in a bag and had suffered a fractured skull and collarbone.

Rachael Davies, of Wharrage Road, in Alcester, Warwickshire, was charged with concealing the birth between 31 January and 12 May last year.

The case, at Stratford Magistrates' Court, was adjourned until 30 March and Ms Davies was granted unconditional bail.
