Blackout bang blamed on squirrel
An explosion at an electricity substation which caused damage put at £250,000 and blacked out homes has been blamed on a squirrel.

The animal jumped into the London Road station, in Coventry, causing a major shortcircuit on Sunday.

Danny Moynihan, from Radford Road Fire Station, said the squirrel, which did not survive the escapade, caused the "massive explosion".

He added: "It woke up 100 students and many residents reported seeing smoke."
