Man, 22, denies murder on a farm
A man has denied killing a farmer during an alleged raid at a farmhouse.

Ashley Squires, 22, of Styon Lane, New Parks, Leicester is alleged to have murdered Michael Boffey, 61, in August.

He denied the charge before a judge at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday. He was remanded in custody until a hearing at the same court on 3 January.

Mr Boffey died when he allegedly attempted to stop thieves stealing his Land Rover from his farm in Withybrook, between Rugby and Hinckley.

Mr Squires is also charged with conspiring to steal motor vehicles between 30 June and 20 August.

He had been remanded in custody since an appearance at Coventry Crown Court.

Frederick Squires, 24, of no fixed abode, was arrested in Rugby on Monday and was charged with conspiracy to steal motor vehicles and assisting an offender.

He appeared before Rugby magistrates on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to appear at crown court on 3 January.
