A decision to knock down and rebuild dozens of pre-fabricated homes in Warwickshire has angered residents.
Their properties in Dunchurch, Pailton and Grandborough, have been found to be suffering from corrosion.
A building survey concluded it was cheaper to rebuild the homes rather than carry out repair work.
Some residents have said they do not wish to move but a spokesman for Rugby Borough Council said alternative accommodation would be provided.
Councillor Bill Sewell, the portfolio holder for housing at the council, said the faults were found during an inspection of the 30 homes.
Demolish and rebuild
He said maintenance would cost £37,000 per house "plus another £28,000 to keep them going for another 25 years".
The council's housing panel has recommended the homes be rebuilt.
The proposal will now go before the full council in a few weeks time.
