Music mogul taking on rail role
Music producer and railway enthusiast Pete Waterman is becoming the president of The Friends of Leamington Station.

It is hoped the presence of the Coventry-born multi-millionaire songwriter will raise the profile of the work of the Warwickshire group.

One enthusiast, Patrick Kingston, who helped to get the station Grade II listed, said: "It is prestigious not only for the group but the town."

Waterman collected an OBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace in February.

The producer, who left school unable to read, was honoured for services to music.

The railway station was built in the 1930s.
