Second violent gang clash in town
Street in Nuneaton
Police are not sure if Wednesday's violence was linked to attacks on cars.
A man has been left with serious head injuries after dozens of youths clashed in Nuneaton for a second night.

Police said about 20 white and Asian youths first took part in the fracas in Princes Street at 2100 BST on Thursday.

At one stage a crowd of up to 100 people gathered, although the majority are not suspected of violent offences.

A girl, 17, has been charged with a racially-aggravated disorder offence. The trouble followed another violent clash in the town on Wednesday night.

Iron bars

In that incident about 100 people gathered in Edward Street.

Warwickshire Police said some of them were armed with iron bars and broken bottles.

The disturbance began after an allegation was made that a red Renault car had been damaged.

Police said they were not sure whether Wednesday night's violence was connected with a spate of attacks on vehicles.

Teenager charged

Over two nights this week tyres on 44 cars were slashed in six different roads, including Edward Street.

A 15-year-old youth arrested in connection with Wednesday night's violence has been charged with public order offences.

Two other youths, both 16, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

The 17-year-old girl arrested on Thursday has been bailed to appear at Nuneaton Youth Court on 28 July.
