Elderly woman dies in bungalow fire in Cornwall

Scene of fatal bungalow fire
Fire crews from Launceston, Bude and Callington battled to save the woman

An elderly woman has died following a fire at a bungalow in east Cornwall.

Two fire crews from Launceston and one each from Callington and Bude were called to the property at Yeolmbridge, near Launceston, at about 1445 BST.

The property was severely damaged by the fire and the woman, who has not been named, died at the scene.

An investigation is under way into the cause of the fire but Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said it was not being treated as suspicious.

The alarm was raised by a person who was visiting the property.

The B3254 Launceston to Bude road was shut to traffic and diversions put in place.
