Illness prompts Cornwall North Labour candidate switch

Labour has had to replace its general election candidate in Cornwall North at the last minute.

Peter Watson, who was adopted as Labour's choice two years ago, has withdrawn through illness.

The replacement candidate is Janet Hulme, a member of the local constituency party, who has only three weeks to get her campaign in gear.

Labour has never finished better than third in Cornwall North, but in 2005 the party got nearly 12% of the total.

Cornwall North: British National Party: Susan Bowen; Conservative: Sian Flynn; UK Independence Party: Ivor Masters; Cornish Democrats: Jonathan Rogers; Liberal Democrat: Daniel Rogerson; Labour: Janet Hulme; Mebyon Kernow: Joanie Willett
