Drivers given icy roads warning

Road safety managers in Cornwall are warning motorists to take care after the first serious frosts of the winter caused ice on some roads.

Temperatures reached as low as -3C (27F) across parts of the county overnight.

Cornwall Council said it took every reasonably practicable step to prevent freezing roads.

It said it carried out its first road salting on Monday night and patrols were out again on Tuesday morning.
