Drop-in centre 'busier than ever'

Staff at a drop-in centre for vulnerable people in Cornwall have reported being "busier than ever" because of the recession.

The Drop In and Share Centre (DISC) in Camborne is having to take on an extra member of staff to cope with demand.

About 100 people are visiting it each week, many of them homeless.

Michelle Ryan, from the centre, said: "We have seen our numbers increase this year. More people are finding it difficult to find work."

Martin, one of those who has used the centre, has been homeless for the last few years. He said he attended DISC several times a week to get a meal and use the facilities.

He said: "It's very good, she (Michelle) helped me a lot. I don't know what I'd have done because I was on the streets."
