Dying man found by firefighters

An elderly man has died after a house fire in Cornwall.

Fire crews from Devon and Cornwall were called to a house at Meadowside at Whitstone, between Bude and Launceston, at about 0900 GMT.

The man was found in the hallway of the house by firefighters in breathing apparatus. The building was described as being full of smoke.

Police said the man later died. An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire.
