Health bosses say the jab is the best way to beat the virus

Frontline community health and social care staff in Cornwall have started to receive swine flu vaccinations.

NHS managers said it was vital staff were vaccinated in order to protect themselves and patients.

The inoculation programme was started at Launceston General Hospital. Next week, people in high risk groups will be able to be inoculated.

Pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems are among those who are being prioritised.

The South West's regional director of public health, Dr Gabriel Scally, urged frontline NHS staff to have the swine flu vaccine last month in a video posted on YouTube.

He said the vaccination programme was the best way to beat the virus.
