Downpour causes show traffic jam

Rain at Stithians Show 2009
Every year thousands of people attend the show which began in 1834

Torrential rain has led to traffic chaos in Cornwall as thousands of people attempted to leave the annual Stithians agricultural show.

Organisers said it was the first time the show had experienced heavy rain since moving to its new showground near Truro about 15 years ago.

The one-day show, which has been running since 1834, normally attracts a crowd of about 20,000.

Police are attempting to calm angry motorists and deal with the traffic.
