Members of several emergency services were involved in the search
The body of a 21-year-old man who got into trouble while swimming in the sea off west Cornwall has been found.
The body was found at Godrevy near St Ives in the early hours of Wednesday following a major rescue effort.
The incident started when four young men got into trouble swimming off rocks on the beach on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite efforts by his friends to pull him ashore, the victim was washed away. It is believed the man died is from Scorrier near Redruth.
Emergency crews were alerted to the incident at about 1645 BST on Tuesday.
Both St Ives lifeboats, a 12-strong coastguard cliff rescue team, a rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose and beach lifeguards searched the sea off Godrevy.
Coastguard Alan Matthews told BBC News the dead man's relatives had been informed.
"They are very upset," he said.
"Our sympathies are with them and we are doing what we can for them."
