Officials confirm swine flu case

H1N1 virus
Nearly 3,000 cases of swine flu have been confirmed in the UK

One more case of swine flu has been confirmed in Cornwall.

Public health said the new case was not connected with last week's outbreak of at Bolitho School in Penzance.

County health officials would not say where the infected person lives, but confirmed he or she had recently returned from out of the county.

More suspected cases of the H1N1 virus are being investigated. Nine six-formers at Bolitho School are continuing to recover in isolation.

The sixth-form pupils were diagnosed with the virus after falling ill on 15 June.

They had been on a recent school trip to London, but it is not known if that was where they contracted the virus.

In Devon, two cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Plymouth - the first since a 12-year-old Paignton girl tested positive in April.

Nearly 3,000 people have been diagnosed with the virus since April, the Health Protection Agency said.
