About 125 runners, including television presenter Ben Shephard, have taken part in the 10th annual Tresco Marathon on the Isles of Scilly.

Since the event began, more than 1,000 people have completed the gruelling 26.2 miles (42.2km) race.

The event raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Ivan Hollingsworth won the men's race in two hours 58 minutes, while the fastest woman was Tracey Buckley in a time of three hours 35 minutes.

The Tresco Marathon began when chef Peter Hingston decided to run solo around the island, because he was unable to leave his daughter - who had cystic fibrosis -to run in London.

More than £500,000 has been raised by the Tresco Marathon since 2000.

Susie Groves from Tresco said weather conditions had been "perfect" for the 127 people taking part.

"There was heavy rain overnight, but after a cloudy start the sun came out which helps a bit in what is a punishing race," she said.
