Arson at former 'abuse' hospital

Ruins of Budock Hospital
The hospital was closed down in 2007

Arson is suspected after a derelict former care hospital in Cornwall was gutted by fire.

The blaze at the old Budock Hospital in Falmouth, began at about 0035 BST.

Four crews attended the fire, which took several hours to put out. Cornwall fire chiefs said the building may be "irreparably damaged".

The hospital, which looked after adults with learning difficulties, closed in 2007 after government inspectors found evidence of "widespread abuse".
