Rise in county's road death toll

The number of people who have died on Cornwall's roads has risen in the last year, according to police figures.

Thirty-five people died in road accidents during 2008, compared to 30 during 2007.

Twenty-seven of the victims were either driving a car or on a motorcycle. The others were two car passengers, a cyclist and five pedestrians.

Most of the accidents took place on main roads, with six of them taking place on the A30.
