Safety DVD helps migrant workers

A safety DVD aimed at helping migrant workers in Cornwall settle into life in the county has been released.

The film, which has versions in Polish, Russian and English, features tips on personal safety and highlights the benefits of smoke detectors in homes.

It also explains what to do in an accident and how to call an ambulance.

The DVD took 12 months to complete and was made by the emergency services and Amber Initiatives, an organisation which supports migrant workers.

It is hoped the proactive DVD will help foreigners who move to Cornwall for work understand what services are available to them in the county.

Amber Initiatives has a number of drop-in centres around the county.
