Fifteen crews tackle house fire

Fifteen fire crews have been called to a burning house in east Devon.

The fire at the property at Coombe Raleigh, near Honiton, has destroyed much of the roof and first floor.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the sheer scale of the incident at the three-storey building forced it to send so many appliances.

Water needed to be pumped to the scene from two miles (3.2km) away. No-one was hurt and crews did not have to evacuate any people from neighbouring homes.

Crews came from as far afield as Barnstaple and Sidmouth to deal with the incident.
