Man hurt in speedboat race crash

A man has been taken to hospital after a speedboat accident in Cornwall.

The 55-year-old was taking part in a race off Looe with his son, when his boat hit a wave.

Both were rescued from the sea by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency launch which was on scene providing safety cover for the race.

The man suffered facial injuries and a dislocated shoulder. He was treated by paramedics at Looe, then taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

His son was not injured.
