Bad weather blights veg company

Vegetable box
Profits on organic vegetable boxes have been squeezed

Twenty jobs are under threat after bad weather forced a Cornish organic vegetable box firm into receivership.

W.J. Oliver and Son Limited, based in Ashton near Helston, said it had been hit by the very wet summer and was prevented from harvesting the crops.

The firm, also known as Olivers, said its organic vegetable boxes had also suffered two difficult years of trading because of pressure on prices.

The firm, founded in 1902, is aiming to sell all or part of the business.
