Tag backlog 'clear in two weeks'

Drivers travelling from Cornwall into Devon are having to wait for TamarTags.

Managers at the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry said they had been let down by their supplier and there was a backlog of 600 applications.

The Tamar Tags are attached to vehicle windscreens and automatically register when a driver uses either crossing. A pre-paid account is then debited.

Managers have apologised to drivers and said the backlog should take two weeks to clear.

The tag system for cars replaced the old voucher system and began in 2007.
