A 26-year-old man has been arrested under the Firearms Act after a three-hour siege in Cornwall.

Police were called to a property in Liskeard on Wednesday evening after reports of a man with a knife and a handgun threatening to harm himself.

The area was cordoned off and armed police officers, negotiators and dog handlers were brought in.

After almost three hours a police baton gun was discharged and a man was arrested. Weapons were seized.

A police spokesman said a man was examined at the scene by paramedics and found to have minor reddening of the skin in the chest area as the result of the baton round striking him.
