Firefighters tackle candle blaze

A candle is believed to have been responsible for a fire which severely damaged a house in Cornwall.

The fire brigade were called to the semi-detached property in Polglase Walk in St Erme on Thursday evening.

Crews from Truro, Perranporth and Falmouth battled to stop the fire spreading to adjoining properties.

The occupants of the house managed to escape before crews arrived. It is thought bedding was ignited by the flame of a candle.
