Tin mined in Cornwall was exported around the world

A museum has been officially opened on the site of one of Cornwall's last surviving tin streaming mills.

The entire collection from Redruth Old Cornwall Society Museum has relocated from the town council offices to Treasure Park at Tolgus Mill.

Artefacts on display include mining tools, maps, tin ingots and journals.

There are also more than 500 flint spear and arrow heads collected from the Illogan area at the end of the 19th Century.

A grant of nearly £5,000 has been given to the museum for computer equipment to digitise thousands of photographs relating to the town's history.

Mining for tin in Cornwall is believed to date back about 4,000 years.

At the height of the industry during the 18th and 19th Centuries, millions of tonnes were exported around the world.
