Man held after man's beach death

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man who was found on a beach in Cornwall with serious head injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the injured man was discovered on Par Beach near St Austell at about 2130 BST on Saturday.

The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital where he later died.

Anyone who was in the Par Beach area at the time is asked to contact police.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "It's too early to speculate on what happened to this man. There will have to be a post-mortem at some point in the future."

He added that officers were in the process of contacting the man's next-of-kin.
