Pupils targeted with sex messages

Pupils at a Cornwall primary school have been targeted with sexual messages on internet social network sites.

Nine children at Padstow Primary School have received "disturbing and sexual messages" on sites, including Bebo and MSN, say police.

Officers are keeping an open mind on the source of the messages, but say they could be from another child.

Police are visiting the school on Friday to speak to the head and parents of pupils.

Password clue

Padstow neighbourhood beat manager, PC Andy Squires said: "Mostly it is sexual connotations and trying to meet to have sex, but the way it has been written is very childish with very poor grammar.

"They are using very basic sexual innuendos, but they are not going very deep into it."

Police believe that the person sending the messages has a password for one pupil.

"When one of the pupils logs off this person is immediately logging on masquerading as this girl, so they must know her password.

"We are still looking into whether it could be someone outside, a male who might be grooming the children."

School has not answered requests by the BBC for an interview.
