Chains are being replaced on the Torpoint ferries
Weekend travellers to Devon and Cornwall on the Torpoint ferries are likely to face some delays.

Maintenance work is taking place on two of the main ferry chains which are being replaced.

Crossings will be reduced to two ferries, a 15 minute service, during Saturday and Sunday until 0630 GMT on Monday morning.

Tony Whetton, Operations Manager, said: "It's routine work and we'll try to minimise the inconvenience caused."

All three chain ferries provide a 24-hour service, 365 days a year and run every 10 minutes at peak times.

The Torpoint Ferry crossing is the busiest vehicular ferry route across an estuary in the UK. The three vessels carry nearly two million vehicles each year.
