Thieves target property for metal
Lead and copper
Many buildings still have lead and copper on their roofs
A number of thefts of lead and copper from a Cornish church and other properties are prompting police to urge people to be more vigilant.

Six places have been targeted, including Centenary Methodist Church in Camborne and a Western Power sub station in St Keverne.

All the incidents happened between 27 September and 4 October and many of them happened overnight.

Police are asking people if they see anything suspicious to come forward.

Lead was taken from the Methodist church in Camborne and from Bay View Terrace in Porthleven.

Meanwhile copper and conduct wire was taken from the sub station in St Keverne, scrap copper pipe from Hellesvean in St Ives, copper straps from the British Telecom relay station, at Leswidden Farm in St Just and more copper conduct wire was taken from Beacon Communications in St Columb Major.
