Armed siege called off at house
A five-hour police siege on a house in east Cornwall was called off after it failed to uncover a suspected burglar who was believed to be inside.

A resident called police on Thursday to report a man had been seen in the house in Pelynt.

Six police cars, a force helicopter and dog handlers were brought in and the area around the house sealed off.

A police spokesman said officers found the house was empty after a "slow and methodical" search.

He said no one had been injured and no arrests had been made.

The B3359 was closed in both directions in the afternoon and road checks put in place in the early evening.

Police are searching for a man aged in his 30s, about 6ft tall, of large build, bald and wearing a light green jacket, blue check shirt and jeans.
