The number of road accidents in Cornwall dropped in 2006, new figures have shown.
There were 200 fewer crashes than in 2005, when Cornwall County Council recorded 2,700 accidents on its roads.
Fifty people died in road accidents in 2006 - five more than in 2005 - and another 217 people were seriously injured.
Figures compiled by the council show little change in the number of road deaths over the last 30 years.
But there was a slow decline in the number of fatal crashes in urban areas.
The council said new schemes were being considered to improve training for young drivers.
