There is no overall control (NOC) in the Cornish district council of Penwith, which was the only council in the county to elect by thirds.
It has been NOC for many years, but is the only council in Cornwall where the Conservatives are the largest party.
They increased their seats by three, at the expense of the Independents, who lost three. Labour and Liberal Democrats had no gains or losses.
The council make up is now: Con 17; LD 12; Ind 5; Lab 1.
The veteran Conservative councillor Bill Maddern was returned unopposed in St Buryan.
UKIP lost the straight contest with the Independent candidate in the remote ward of Madron and Zennor.
