New hospital food on the menu
Healthy food
Ingredients will be locally sourced wherever possible
The way food is provided at Cornish hospital is to undergo a major change.

It follows a £2m investment for a central food production unit from Objective One and the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs.

The unit, next to the Camborne Redruth Hospital, will replace the facility at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.

Local produce will be used wherever possible and chefs will prepare the meals which will then be transported to hospitals to be cooked on the wards.

It is planned to expand the unit commercially in the future to supply food to other organisations in the region.

The unit is expected to be completed in February next year.
